The best known spa resort located 125 km (78 miles) west of Prague.
The city was founded in the middle of 14. century by king Charles IV. and over the centuries it become very popular for it’s warm mineral springs.
A lot of world famous artists and rich aristocrats came here for treatment – Russian Tsar Peter the Great, Goethe, Beethoven, Chopin, Paganini.
The most outstanding figure in a history of the Karlovy Vary was doctor David Becher who invented a famous Czech liquor Becherovka – originally a stomach drops.
The city has been popular also for production of world-famous Bohemian crystal Moser and local china.
You will walk in the city centre passing a Giant spring (Vridlo). Option to visit a Moser Crystal factory, Museum of Becherovka and swimming in the mineral swimming pool. And if you still have some time you can take a cable car to the Diana lookout tower – the best view of the city.
